Frequently asked questions
What is an increment?
Increment (e.g. the “3” in 5|3) is a number of seconds added to your clock each time you complete a move — it prevents games from being decided purely by running out of time.
How accurate is it?
Each player's remaining time is computed from the wall clock, so it stays accurate and doesn't drift, even if the tab is briefly busy.
Why is one clock upside down?
Player 1's clock is rotated 180° so two people sitting across a phone or tablet can both read their own time the right way up.
