Frequently asked questions
How is my star sign worked out?
Your Western zodiac sign is based on the day and month of your birth. Each sign covers a fixed range of dates, so someone born on July 1 is a Cancer and someone born on August 1 is a Leo.
How is the Chinese zodiac animal decided?
The Chinese zodiac runs on a 12-year cycle of animals tied to your birth year. This tool maps the year to its animal, so 2000 is the Year of the Dragon and 2020 is the Year of the Rat.
Why might my Chinese zodiac animal be off by one?
The Chinese year begins at the lunar new year in late January or February, not January 1. If you were born in that window, your true animal may belong to the previous year.
